Our family's piano. Carefully kept, regularly tuned, and honestly a little hard to part with. We'd like it to go to a serious player before the school year starts.

Our child learned on this piano and grew more as a musician in a few years than we thought possible. It is a very responsive instrument: play something on it and you hear things in the piece you didn't notice before, and you start trying ideas. Ask anyone who has played a good Model B. It has lived most of its life in our home, in controlled humidity, tuned regularly and handled gently and with care.
About the price: September is when students and teachers come back to Toronto, and a grand needs lead time. The move, two or three weeks to settle, then a tuning. Count back from the first lesson and the time to buy is now: bought this week, the piano is settled and tuned with room to spare. Bought in late August, it is still finding its pitch when lessons begin. We set $57,000 with that in mind. We would rather sell this summer to someone who will play it than wait around for a bigger number. For reference, a new Model B is over $140,000 before tax.
The Model B is the piano most conservatories put in their teaching studios. If your child is working toward auditions or competitions, this is the instrument they will meet on stage, and daily practice on one shows quickly.
It also suits a teacher's studio, or an adult player who has wanted a real grand for a long time.
Moving a grand takes less time than people think. You just don't want to be doing it the week lessons start.
Sit with it for an hour if you like. Bring your teacher, or a technician. At this price, you probably should.
Piano movers do this every day; door to door it's an afternoon. We can pass along the names of crews who have moved grands downtown.
A piano wants two or three weeks in a new room before its tuning. Count back from the first lesson: the time to buy is now.
The recording gives you an idea. It's better in the room.
